what english sounds like…..

When I was in Paris, I heard French every day – shop owners, people walking on the street (usually bumping into me…), in theaters (going to movies alone was one of my favorite things to do) and especially in restaurants. I also heard a lot of other languages, like Japanese, Italian, Polish, German, Farsi… and even though I have no idea how to speak any of those languages, I knew their roots at first listen. And so, I sometimes wonder: What does English sound like to someone who doesn’t speak it or understand it, but recognizes the sound of it? Via a blog I’ve been enjoying regularly lately, this short film called, “Skwerl” answered this very question. Enjoy.

i forgot to mention this: i’m in a magazine at the moment

The opportunity came to me via a colleague from my days editing at the magazine. (Pam, shout out to you, girl.)

You know, after being on magazine shoots before, it was fun to be on the other end for a change of pace. It was a lot of fun.. and tough to master! (which I SO did in not).

There’s a lot of takes and re-takes.. holding your muscles still, while smiling.. learning about what kind of light makes your arms look best…and finding out how much eye-shadow can you safely wear before it starts to melt under the lights (two coats).

Anyway. It’s on stands now across Canada (not the U.S., sorry dudes) – Canadian Living magazine, pg 70-ish (I think).
