The fact that my birthday – and, therefore, the expiration of my List – is just four and a half months away has not been lost on me. In fact, I lost a little sleep over it last night. ‘Will I be able to finish it all?’ crossed my mind many, many times and I’m not one to break a promise, so I know things are about to go into third gear in the next couple of weeks.
A lot of my to-dos are best done with good weather and today, in Toronto, we’ll be enjoying the first sunny day in weeks. Effin’ weeks! So, in honor of beautiful weather and taking this List all the way to the finish line, I’ve put up this little motivator and reminder about #2. What do you think?

Last week, I purchased a pair of leather riding gloves…in metallic silver. Be still, my heart. If that’s not motivation enough to get on getting my motorcycle license, I don’t know what is.
Stay tuned, dear lovely readers of this little ‘ol blog, things are about to get very interesting around here.

I’ve been lusting after a Vespa for a few years now. Mike has his M1 and is a full out biker. I’ve been wanting to get mine for awhile so that he and I can ride together (right now, I’m relegated to the “girlfriend seat” on the back of his bike)
I know you know this, but PLEASE be careful! There are too many terrible drivers out there. And the likelihood of surviving a collision with a car…
Wow, I’m a downer, sorry. I have faith in you, you’ll finish your list. I have known very few people who follow their dreams and are as driven as you. I wish you luck! I love hearing about it.
Hey, have you been talking to my mom?
No seriously though, I hear you. I’m a little terrified, for sure, but I know that overcoming that fear is all part of the process. Along with my new semi-fancy riding gloves, I’m on the hunt for an old-school helmet, you know, those ones that make you look like a beetle. Now who’s going to crush a cute little ‘ol beetle?
HELMET yes! And me and your mom talk all the time, she didn’t tell you?
I’m sure you’ll be safe, but it would be against my nature to not say something. Include pictures of you wearing the gear and riding the scooter!
Do it lady!! I have been thinking about purchasing a scooter (rather than a new car) sine my new work is so close to home. I’m excited to hear about your riding!!
You do it, too! Ah, send pictures of your DREAM VESPA!
RIDING GLOVES! Hot! Spending some time on the road to get practice for your license seems like a great use of gorgeous spring days.
I know! Very excited. The weather is stunning today and all the hipster Vespas are out… I’m so excited!
I’d love to get my license too! Rode on a friend’s vespa for the 1st time last summer and fell in love. Not the most practical vehicle for a city like Halifax, where it’s fairly windy most of the time, rains often and snows/rains/freezings about 5-6 mths of the year, but I still think it would be such fun for the spring/summer. Can’t really afford it right now, but it’s on the list too. Can’t wait to hear if you go thru with it! :)
Ah, weather-smeather (but I totally hear you.. Toronto is brutal for winters!) I’m totally going through with it. I mean, it’s on the List (which basically makes it set in stone).
If I’d still (what am I saying “still”, I never wanted to wear either of these?) wanted to wear a fishtail parka and a pork-pie hat at 29, I’d have been worried about myself! ;-)
Fishtail parka, eh? Hm, I could go for that. PS, I left you a comment on another comment that you left me, but not sure you got it.. I could have sworn you had a blog at one point Ken, no? If you do, SEND ME THAT URL!
The whole fishtail parka and pork-pie hat thing is a reaction to being British, and associating Lambrettas with the Mod movement (Check out the film Quadrophenia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrophenia_(film) if you don’t understand this). I’ve never had a blog, so that must have been someone else I think.
Also, I know I comment regularly, but I try and not comment unless I have something to say.
Ok, so I have to tell you… the fishtail parka thing did ring a bell, but I wasn’t sure. I first heard it in high school drama class (huh, imagine me in drama class?). And, for the record, when you do comment, I love it. Your insight always adds here.
You in drama class – I can see that working.
Oh and thank you; I try to sound intelligent and/or funny, and my blog roll is made up of people/sites that I find worth reading and even talking to.
